YES, PLEASE!
As Seen On

I haven’t really made a public commentary on the recent election results, and don’t worry, I’m not going to now.  At least not in the way that some might expect.  😉

What I can’t get out of my mind was the day after the election…

As I spent the morning working the front desk of my dance studio and then running errands around town, I had no idea who voted for whom.  I could make a good guess here and there as I recognized those with eyes as tired and tear-stained as mine.  But tear-stained or not, no matter whose eyes I met, they were kind.  Loving.  Peaceful.

I’m not sure what I expected, but it wasn’t that.  It surprised me.

And it was heartbreaking in the best possible way.  People were smiling gently at each other, going out of their way to open doors for each other, letting others go ahead of them at checkout counters.  As divided as the population of this country was(is), for one day my little local community felt just like the kind of world I’d love to live in.  You could feel the compassion, care, and support from strangers.  It was almost palpable.  It was loving.  Peaceful.

Moving into the holiday season, when things get a bit hectic, it’s easy to forget the small kindnesses that truly make a difference.  That make a stand for the type of world we want to live in, regardless of political opinions and differences.  I want to remember those small things I can do as I scuttle about my busy days leading up to the new year.  And really, it can be as simple as this:

“Peace begins with a smile.” – Mother Teresa

peacewallpaperAs a reminder for myself, I made a desktop wallpaper for my laptop, and I thought you might like it too.  A gift from me to you.  🙂  You can download it here.

“My wish for you is that you continue.  Continue to be who you are, to astonish a mean world with your acts of kindness.” – Maya Angelou

And no matter where you are in the world, know that I’m sending you a smile.  And wishes for a loving, peaceful holiday season.

xoxo,
