As Seen On

“And, when you want something, all the universe conspires to help you achieve it.” – Paulo Coelho

I believe this with my whole heart.  Unknowingly, I called on this idea when I:

  • opened my first business, a dance studio, at age 21.  It’s still rocking and rolling and allowing me to work there part-time.  So I now have the space to play with horses and write to you. 🙂
  • quit doing drugs, got clear-headed, and started waking up to the beautiful life I was creating.
  • moved three times in seven years until I found my dream spot where I can see my horses right out the front window my house.  And there’s even a pond.  Be still my heart…
  • really, really wanted a new laptop so I could more easily go back and forth between working at the dance studio and my new home.  Then the dance studio had the best summer ever.  And abracadabra!  *evidence that you can ask for anything you want – even laptops.
  • signed up for a first class Equus Coach training program, without knowing where exactly the money would come from… or whether or not it would ever work as a career… and made every payment (easily!). And the personal growth I experienced as a result of the program was nothing short of miraculous.  It didn’t matter to me if I never made a dime as an Equus Coach.

Now, I’m not going to act like any of this was easy.  That I didn’t agonize over decisions.  Just ask my husband how long I obsessed about how our dining room table was going to fit in our new house.  Made myself and everyone around me miserable for a good week, I bet. :-/ Definitely not proud of that one!

But when you’re willing to follow your heart, to show up for yourself and your true desires, I believe what Martha Beck calls “inspired action” meets you in the middle.  From the outside, inspired action may look like you working your ass off for your dream, but on the inside it feels fun, even exciting.  You somehow have the energy and the motivation to make it all happen.

Again, not always easy, but always sooooo worth it.

My life doesn’t look exactly like I thought it would when I was young: dreaming and scheming about being a singer, or going to college for dance, or at the very least being swept off my feet by my very own, personal Prince Charming, white stallion and all. 😉

But my life feels like mine.  I’ve stayed true to a lot of my dreams and desires, and a lot of them have come to pass (even despite a few naysayers).

And I want to be clear.  I believe that dreams come true are possible for every single one of us.  Not just a select few who are more creative or more beautiful or have more money than us.  They’re for you.  And for me.  And for anyone else who’s willing to ask.

What have you been dreaming of lately?  Let me know in the comments below.  I’d love to help you hold the possibility of their coming true.  I like the following prayer, and I’ll say it for you, too:

“This, or something better.”
